What is a marketplace seller?

A marketplace seller is a registered business that lists and sells products on third-party ecommerce platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Meesho and Ajio. The marketplace brings traffic, payments and often logistics; the seller owns the catalogue, pricing, stock and listing quality — and every marketplace applies its own rules to images and content.

Every seller hub in this series covers

  • Registration, GST and brand approval
  • Catalogue, attributes and listing rules
  • Product photography, model shoots and video
  • Fees, returns, ads and growth

Fees and specifications change often and vary by category. Confirm current rates and image rules in each seller panel before you price or shoot.

Which marketplace should you start with?

Start where your buyers already shop, prove your margins on one platform, then expand. Most growing brands settle on two or three marketplaces within their first year.

  1. 1Match the audience. Pick the marketplace whose shoppers already buy your category.
  2. 2Prove the margin. Model commission, shipping and returns before you add SKUs.
  3. 3Reuse one shoot. Export every marketplace’s crop from the same master files.
  4. 4Expand in order. Add the next marketplace once the first one is profitable.

Video across marketplaces

Short product videos show movement, fabric fall and scale that stills cannot. Amazon supports listing videos for registered brands, while fashion marketplaces are widening video support category by category — so shoot video in the same session as your stills.

Ask on WhatsApp
Which marketplace is best for new sellers in India?

It depends on what you sell. Branded apparel and D2C fashion usually start on Myntra or Ajio, broad catalogues on Amazon, mass-market and festive-volume products on Flipkart, and low-price or unbranded products on Meesho. Start where your buyers already shop, then expand.

Can I sell the same products on Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Meesho and Ajio at the same time?

Yes. Most brands sell on two or more marketplaces with the same GSTIN and catalogue. Keep stock synced across seller panels, and adapt images, titles and attributes to each marketplace’s rules.

Do I need a separate GST registration for each marketplace?

No. One GSTIN works across marketplaces. If you store stock in another state, for example in a marketplace fulfilment centre, you may need to add that location as an additional place of business or register in that state. Confirm the details with your CA.

Can I use the same product photos on every marketplace?

Mostly, if you shoot high-resolution master files. Main image rules differ — Amazon needs a pure white background, while Myntra and Ajio favour portrait, model-led frames — so export marketplace-specific crops from the same shoot.

Which marketplace charges the lowest commission?

Meesho advertises zero commission, while Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra and Ajio charge category-wise commission or referral fees. Compare the total cost per order, including fixed, shipping and return charges, not just the commission rate.

How many images should a marketplace listing have?

Aim for at least five to seven images per SKU: front, back, side, a detail close-up, a styled or model frame, and a size or scale reference where relevant. Check each marketplace’s minimum and maximum before uploading.

Can Uniqs Studio shoot for multiple marketplaces in one session?

Yes. Uniqs Studio plans one shoot in Delhi NCR covering model, catalogue, flat lay, ghost mannequin and video, then delivers SKU-wise files exported to each marketplace’s specs.
